Review of Gun-shy (2003) by Shati Z — 24 Aug 2007
Charles 'Charlie' Mayeaux is a DEA undercover agent who has infiltrated the mafia circles. Even though he is almost killed by an enraged mobster his superior officers believe his cover to be intact and send him on a money laundry operation.
Charlie does not share their optimism, in fact he's scared shitless (literally) and becomes so mentally and physically unstable he seeks out psychiatric help while he continues working and waiting for the bad guys to look deep into his eyes, see who he really is and blow his brains out...
Someone in Hollywood must have said "Let's make a movie about a DEA Agent and some mobsters, but let's make it weird... really weird." and the result is Gun Shy. This is a weird movie, it really is. On the plus side it is also quite funny, occasionally hilarious.
"Wait a minute, even the bad guys are unhappy?".
"That's depressing.".
