Review of Gregory's Girl (1980) by Chris W — 22 May 2008
Still utterly charming, Forsyth's best film is a wonderful look at teenage love, with all it's foibles and gawky innocence.John Gordon Sinclair's Gregory is the ultimate teenager( awkward, silly, confused, football mad and hopelessly in love),tripping about a very scottish landscape.
Shot in one of the new towns of Glasgow's suburbs(all concrete and coutry parks, chip shops and school dinners),the film remains a perfectly formed romantic comedy with a realism at it's core that strikes a chord with all kids of the 80's.
Just don't touch the Ravioli,it's garbage!
