Review of Gosford Park (2001) by Marilee A — 12 Jul 2011
Robert Altman shows that even late in his career he lost none of his luster or instinct for making a terrific film. The ensemble cast is terrific and everything an ensemble should be with no character really seeming more important than the other and every storyline playing off the others (something Altman pulls off even better in Short Cuts) and the camera work reflects this marvelously drifting from conversation to conversation as though its eavesdropping on these characters lives.
A wonderfully directed and scripted film well worth watching.
