Review of Good Hair (2009) by Jennifer L — 07 Nov 2010
When I first saw the trailer for this movie, I knew I wanted to see it. I've grown up with black friends since I was little and have seen the evolution of their hair from little girls' heads covered with tiny pigtails, to straighteners, to long "white" hairstyles.
But I never knew what they went through with their hair. This is kind of a documentary with comedy. It lets you in on a world that is hidden, and what you discover is both sad and amazing. I had no idea that black women had such pressure to have "good hair" and what their men tolerate because of it.
