Review of Good Bye, Lenin! (2003) by Monika W — 11 Feb 2009
The film professor who put together the international festival I attend said this is likely the only German comedy ever made. It's a great, funny story about what happens to a family who tries to keep the facade of Communism going on behalf of their seriously ill mother.
But it's also a great, serious story about truth and the consequences of not telling it. Apparently many critics were upset that this was not nominated for an Oscar, and I can see why. It's well worth the rental!
