Review of Gold (2016) by Jacob B — 09 May 2017
The movie Gold is actually great. This is meant to be a one man show and Matthew McConaughey stands out as he was supposed to. All other characters are the canopy of his tell, they can only be mildly rounded. You cannot expect more from an egocentric man with low self-esteme but high expectations for himself, we are watching the world through his eyes and guts. The story is actually well balanced and the screenplay is sound. Some minor flaws here and there, but watching movies is a bit like dreaming, it's make believe business and you want to believe otherwise you have no reason to watch movies.
It will rise to its glory in time, although now many put it down. If you ask me they all put five stars on kong skull island...
