Review of Ghosts (2005) by Yishai R — 08 Mar 2012
Petzold knows what he's doing, but what he's doing isn't particularly stimulating. Uninteresting characters, uninteresting plot, poor pacing and bare-bones in almost every way, Gespenster doesn't have much to recommend itself.
Because there was clear thought and depth beyond a simple story about two girls on the fringes of society, it's not completely worthless, and some people will enjoy it. If you like the films of Jim Jarmusch, you'll probably like this, but don't expect as good of music.
The whole film takes far too much time going nowhere, but if you liked that sort of thing (65% of audience liked Gerry!), then this film is for you. Otherwise, it's REALLY not.
