Review of Getting Straight (1970) by Marc D — 16 Mar 2008
Elliott Gould gives a wonderful performance as Harry Bailey, a conflicted grad student, in this 2-hour drama directed by Richard Rush. I could definitely relate to Bailey's dilemma - where he's trying to join the system because he needs to make a living, but every cell in his body opposes it.
Elliott Gould is really funny in this movie too. Plus you get to see a young Candice Bergen, a young Harrison Ford, and last but not least: Max 'The Mack' Julien as a student activist. RECOMMENDED.
