Review of George Carlin: It's Bad for Ya! (2008) by Christiaanbacon T — 14 Dec 2008
The end of a legend. The great George Carlin's 14th and final HBO special, his career couldn't have ended with a finer performance. Though he somewhat faltered in his very dark and cynical "Life is Worth Losing" special in 2005, Carlin returns to form to mix the old with the new.
Despite being 71 at the time of this taping, there's no question that Carlin retains his trademark energy and stream-of-consciousness wordplay. Carlin continues his main theme of pointing out society's "bullshit", as well as his notorious views on religion and politics, but it never gets old.
Carlin has proven that he can connect with any age group, and has always challenged his fans not only to question every form of authority, but most important of all, to think for themselves. There was nobody like George Carlin, and nobody can ever replace him.
A uproariously funny swan song for a comedic legend.
