Review of Gemini Man (2019) by Trey82 — 12 Feb 2020
A disjointed movie that has a place next to the oft-criticized but definitely cult-classic movies of Will Smith. I, Robot, After Earth, etc etc.
The packing is brisk but insufficient. Set pieces are thrown at you fast and without fury, like a bond movie.
The acting is alright considering the genre. The actors are itching to give out more exposition and more one liners, but the time never arrives. The movie takes itself more serious than that.
The CGI is alright, the music fits the bill, the whole schlemazel is definitely midline.
Which is to say, I'm disappointed because I usually like these cheesfests. If I went in without any expectations and I watched trailer #2, perhaps I'd be more comforted by this version of Scifi Smith goodness.
As it stands, it was a good movie until the skull scene. Then it felt like another director took a stab at it, and it became like Hancock ~ connected but NOT.
