Review of Gandhi, My Father (2007) by Ramya U — 06 Aug 2007
A new insight into one of India's great leaders life and how his son Harilal Gandhi failed in achieving his dreams and died a pauper. By far Akhshaye Khanna's best performance in a historical role.
He and Shefali Shah have been the saving graces for the film. Darshan Zariwala, who played the character of M. K.Gandhi did try his best but it wasn't up to the mark. It could have been better if they would have kept hsi character in the backdrop and bring Harilal's character in the forefront.
Also the scenes of pre-independence India look patchy with the filming of rest of the film. I am surely touched by the story but it could have been more intense as the director definitely had a new aspect of Gandhi's life! The film could have been technically better.
