Review of Funny Farm (1988) by Gerald M — 01 Apr 2010
This insightful drama moved me in more ways than a broken escolator programmed to go in multiple directions. Chevy Chase's Funny Farm is perhaps one of the best "One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest" style dramas ever made.
Chevy Chase plays a mentally disabled man who's best friends are a stuffed dog and an imaginary tractor that he refers to as "Mr. Vroom". In the film, Chevy and his band of non-existent friends travel across his psyche in a "Wizard of Oz" style tale.
In the end, however, the lesson that true mental disabilities can never be healed shows true, when the "Wizard", who is a native american who has spoken in years, does not acknowledge any of Chevy's friends.
Truly one of the best psychological analysis films that will ever be produced. Bravo.
