Free Fire is not only one of my favorite films of 2017, but also the most fun movie experience I had with a 2017 release. This excellent film is superbly acted (especially from standouts Brie Larson & Sharlto Copley), amazingly directed, cleverly scripted, beautifully shot, and a hell lot of fun. I have seen people criticize the lack of characterization. There is some of that, but not thick, and it doesn't have to be thick in this type of film.
I have a feeling that Free Fire will eventually become a cult classic. Ben Wheatley is one of the most interesting filmmakers working today.
