Review of Forrest Gump (1994) by Paul M — 03 Sep 2014
I'm always amazed by how many of the critics missed the point of this movie entirely. They seem to think it is a conservative statement, when it is a complete satire of conservative values. Forrest is a moron who is great at everything right-wingers hold dear: soldiering, capitalism, sports, etc.
The irony isn't exactly subtle, but it's too much so for critics I guess. The fact that it combines this biting satire with a profoundly moving overview of the late 20th century in America is nearly miraculous.
A marvelous movie.
