Review of For All Mankind (1989) by Trent J — 09 Jul 2008
I can watch this film over and over and it still stirs feelings of awe. It reminds me of a time when our country aspired to our greatest instincts and dared to dream.
This film takes footage from all the Apollo missions and creates a story of the men vied to be shot into space for all mankind in their voices. There is a commentary on the Criterion DVD of Eugene A. Cernan, who was the last man to step on the moon. He articulates for us as much as anyone can the emotions and thoughts you would have standing on the moon.
This is worthy to be in any DVD collection.
Brian Eno's "Apollo" soundtrack really communicates the awe, the sense of vastness of space, the beauty of our earth, and the emotions that these men felt.
