Review of Finding Nemo (2003) by Johnathon W — 22 May 2016
Brilliant and beautifully crafted film that ranks as one of the best animated films ever made. The cast is superb with Albert Brooks perfectly cast as a worried father, Marlin, while Ellen DeGeneres steals every scene as the ever forgettable, Dory.
Behind the camera, Andrew Stanton crafts a beautiful story about a father trying to rescue his son while displaying the ocean & it's inhabitants as more beautiful, yet at times scary, than ever put on film.
Whether it be the annoying sea gulls (accurately depicted as rats with wings) or the sinister deep sea fish ( the stuff of nightmares), this is probably one of the best films featuring the ocean ever created.
Never the less, the filmmakers work in relatable subject matter about love & family, along with some fantastic humor (Dory is never not funny). Arguably Pixar's finest film to date (my personal favorite is still "The Incredibles") which by default makes it one of the best animated films ever made.
