Review of Finding Amanda (2008) by Anthony A — 28 Jun 2008
This movie takes a pretty standard plot device that many movies have used since the sixties and throws out all of the old cliches making this piece stand out from the herd. Matthew Brodrick show he can still be a leading man and carries the movie as a drrunk gambler who goes to Las Vegas to retrieve his niece and get her to rehab.
Everything here work and like a previously stated writer/director Peter Tolan (Co-Creator of Rescue Me and Larry Sanders Show) stays away from giving you the same old scenes you've seen a million times only with different actors.
Here he gives you a fresh look at a interesting but familiar story and he hands you a bunch of gut busting laughter as a bonus. A true sleeper and a must see.
