There were a couple of laugh-out-loud moments (comic relief, I suppose); but, the movie as a whole is (true to content) horribly discouraging.
Broderick and Snow both did a decent job of their roles (I'm still sort of debating their performances, actually); but I'm not sure either character got quite the attention it deserved overall.
