Jason was a boy who was left to drown by inattentive teens... Freddy was a child molester burned by vengeful parents... Michael Myers returned to his hometown years after murdering his sister... Memorable protagonists with interesting back stories.

.. This film has NONE of that. The killer is never named or identified, his motives are never explained... he's just some guy knifing people on a college campus. This is a near fatal flaw. However, the one thing going for this slasher, aside from a couple of decent kills, is the amount of attention given to the prey: these characters are developed better than usual, and the acting is above par, although some may feel this slows down the pace.
