Review of Fear of Fear (1975) by Kevin N — 04 Mar 2008
Very clean melodrama. Fassbinder takes a topic that might have been controversia and shockingl at the time (the interracial marriage, arab-german, of a man half a woman s age) and avoids the scandalous in search for deeper more humane feelings.
This approach is what keeps this movie fresh to this day. No moralistic paternal fingers waved at the audience from the director. A very sweet tale of unlikely but honest love. Watch it if you get a chance.
