Review of Faust: Love of the Damned (2000) by Alex G — 05 Jan 2013
So this movie contains incredible moments and some painfully tasteless ones as well. It is odd to find anything tasteless when I am such a huge fan of things like SOCIETY, but when you play with sex-mixed with pain and rape too much, you lose me.
Too often do we see these things blatantly thrown into the story in a 2-d pornographic sort of way--unlike Society which rides on the absurdism and commentary on "society" itself. This film fails largely because it follows a terrible 90s indie teen comic.
The things it does for itself are just fantastic--Combs being the best part. Once again, Jeffrey Combs blows everyone else out of the water and makes you wish he was the star. There are also several golden moments thrown about the film.
Not great, but has amazing B moments.
