Review of Familiar Strangers (2008) by Sara H — 13 Jan 2009

As a Baby Boomer with two sons in their 20s, Familiar Strangers was strangely familiar. My husband and I are learning how to relate to our children as adults and it's a whole new world we are exploring, just like the parents in the movie. The two sons and the daughter have issues of their own, but they are good-hearted people so there's lots of reasons to hope for the best. This movie covers all the bases of my must-haves for a highly satisfactory movie experience: Well-scripted, well-cast, well-acted, set in Virginia, surprising humor, sad in the right spots, uplifting ending. I walked out of the theater with a smile on my face and a wish that more people would see this feel-good film. Kudos to all involved with this intelligent indie!
