Review of Eye in the Sky (2015) by Paul B — 20 Apr 2016
Eye in the Sky could possibly the most tense cinema experience you'll have this year. Helen Mirren and the late Alan Rickman in his last screen role before his sad passing earlier this year join an excellent cast including Aaron Paul (Breaking Bad) and Barkhad Abdi (Captain Phillips). This movie gives us an insight into the complexity of modern drone warfare from various perspectives. The UK and US armed forces are intangled in the political wranglings, particularly with the UK Government and less so in the states, where their stance seems a bit more straight forward.
This is very reminiscent of Crimson Tide in which questions are asked about the chain of command and the impact of decisions using the intel available but in this there seems, not such a shifting of blame but a shifting of responsibility from one position of power to the next position of power.
