Review of Exiled (2006) by Victoria L — 20 Jun 2007
Ultra-stylised HK tribute to the Westerns of Leone complete with familiar themes of loyalty, betrayal and maasculine identity.
It's a moody, atmospheric piece with fine performances and ecletic direction from To, some typically off-kilter humour and some fantastically minimalist action sequences.
If emotional involvement is limited, it's a small price to pay for such an intriguing, well-crafted action film.
