Review of Everlasting (2016) by Alex H — 31 Dec 2018
Reminiscent of both "American Beauty" and "13 Reasons Why" at times, "Everlasting" offers an authentic and intimate look into the lives of two high school students who are each affected by the arrival of a brutal serial killer in very different ways.
Unsettling and poignant at the same time, Anthony Stabley creates a unique style through the use of handy-cam footage, archival footage, flashbacks and snippets of the action in the present. These differing techniques ultimately blend together quite well thanks to a consistent tone and overall, provide an honest and heartbreaking look at the devastation murder wrecks on individuals.
