Review of Escape from New York (1981) by Manos K — 08 Mar 2009
Imagine the early 80s, Kurt Russell is coming off of his career as a child actor in all things Disney, and John Carpenter decides lets flip that persona on its head and cast him as one of the greatest anti-heroes of the modern era.
This is not great because of cinematic value. This is great because it is all that is awesome with exploitation cinema. Also, it features a terrific soundtrack from Carpenter.
