The genre of "man vs. giant bug" is a hard one to pull off seriously. Fortunatley. "Eight Legged Freaks" doesn't. It's more or less a parody of the giant bug moves of the fiffties, playing on all of the absurdidies.
The spiders appear pretty realisitc (apart from their vocalizations) considering it's a B-movie. An underappreciated film not to be missed!
