Review of eCupid (2011) by Robert I — 30 Dec 2013
This movie is proof that movies about gay characters works. That said, the movie is still rough around the edges. The acting is in that bad "indie film" territory and because it's about a gay relationship everyone around them seems to be gay too.
My biggest complaint is just the false synopsis. I thought this 'magic app' was going to lead a movie of fantasy encounters. Not at all the case. The lead just needed a "Pina Colada" moment, as his mate is wonderful and not at all terrible, but this app makes both their lives a living Hell.
When the movie ended I stated that while all's well that ends well, the app did NOT need to ruin both their lives in the process. Are they better off in the end than in the beginning? I'm very unsure.
But given how into the film I was while watching it, it did continue my advocacy for more gay characters in mainstream films.
