Review of Ecstasy of the Angels (1972) by Louis D — 24 Oct 2008
After only one viewing I can say, without hesitation, that this is one of my favorite films. Wakamatsu combines philosophy and sensationalism in a manner comparable to Jean-Luc Godard and Seijun Suzuki but with a grittier aesthetic, making for one of the most original pieces of cinema I've ever seen.
Also contains a super-cool codename hierarchy. My birthday is weeks away. (Hint, hint).
