Review of Dunkirk (2017) by Mhairi L — 18 Jul 2018
This is one of those cinematic experiences you just won't forget. It is masterful in every aspect. It draws you in to its narrative and utterly engrosses you and you are consumed for the films entire run.
The acting is superb throughout, without a bad performance from anyone. Despite the content, the film elegant in its depiction of the reality of war. It does not shy away from events, yet there is a tone of respect that is not cheapened by overt gore.
The score is undeniably brilliant and sets the tone exactly throughout the entire run time. As someone who will actively avoid war films, I left this movie in awe, just speechless. It undeniably leaves you with a harrowing realisation, that sits with you and is difficult to shake.
Superb in every way.
