Review of Duck and Cover (1952) by Ken S — 24 Dec 2011
Duck and Cover is this wonderful little piece of American history. It's the "educational" film that told kids the most unconvincing lie to make them feel better about the frightening looming threat of the bomb being dropped.
..despite the fact that it would destroy anything in its path...just hide under your desk! All these years later, it is fascinating to see this slice of America in the 1950s, with the paranoia and the clean cut safety net that underneath was really a lie for comfort.
I think this is a worth a look for anyone interesting in 20th Century History.
