Does what Robert Rodriguez TRIED to do with Machete: a grindhouse film that IS a grindhouse film because of it's actors and script, NOT because it's made to LOOK like a grindhouse film. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE most of Robert's movies.
I just felt that he tried WAAAY to hard to make Machete look like it came from the seventies. Whereas Drive Angry looks like a modern film, but with the campy dialogue, gratuitous violence and sex, strives to not be more than it's supposed to be.
That's where it succeeds. Fun, goofy movie.
