Review of Dragon Tiger Gate (2006) by Indie O — 14 Nov 2007
Two tumbs up! This movie is a comic adaptation of Long Hu Men (Tiger Wong). I happen to grow up reading Tony Wong's comics and when I watched this movie I felt like all the characters jumped out to live.
Donnie Yen as usual is brilliant, both in his act and fight scenes. There's one scene in particular that is so touching, it's when Wang Xiao Long as a child covered this younger brother Wang Xiao Hu with his body when they were beaten up by bullies.
It is enough to picture the complicated relationship between the two brothers. What was written in hundreds of series of comics has successfully pictured in a movie with running time less than 2 hours.
Great movie, good adaptation, great director, cool fighting scenes and breathtaking special effects.
