Review of Dragon Tiger Gate (2006) by Scott T — 01 May 2010
I knew that this film would turn out to be bad. Comic adaptations and Hong Kong martial arts have never been a good combination. I learned it from "Storm Riders".
But I was totally wrong. It is one of the best Hong Kong films. Even though it's not deep and realistic like Jonnie To, this film is about same level as his. And I think it's so rare to find great martial art stunt combined with wire action and visual effects. I couldn't belive my eyes seeing this great action scenes. It shows that you don't need Jet Li, John Woo and ILM to make a great film.
Plus, you can see Donnie Yen at his best. He proved to be the best action star in Asia. Folks, Jacki Chen era's already passed!
