Review of Dr. T & the Women (2000) by Nick C — 26 Aug 2005
Robert Altman is one of our most gifted filmmakers, yet he seriously falters with this grating, desperately overlong dry comedy. It claims to have a feminist slant, but all of its female characters are irritating wretches, while their male counterparts are simply dull and underwritten.
And what's the deal with the ending, a bizarre fantasy sequence featuring graphic childbirth? It's a shame to see Altman's talent so shamelessly wasted..
