Review of Downfall (1997) by Mark S — 29 Sep 2009
It is literally one of the greatest World War II movies ever made. Bruno Ganz's performance as Hitler is magnificent, but it is more of a supporting role. The film is not just about his downfall, but all of Nazi Germany's.
It is an incredibly effective and powerful film about the madhouse that was Berlin in the days before Germany surrendered. It features the most suicides probably ever put on the big screen.
