Review of Dolan's Cadillac (2009) by Scott G — 19 Sep 2010
This movie suffers the fate a lot of films based on short stories suffer, because it is based on a short story, it just doesn't transition well into a full-length film. This probably would have worked better as an hour long episode of Nightmares and Dreamscapes, or something like that, but as it is, it's not bad, it just feels more like it belongs on TV than on film, it just doesn't have enough depth to work as a great movie.
But the story is pretty interesting, if not one of Stephen King's most original, and Christian Slater is great and plays the character perfectly. Wes Bentley however, I wasn't a big fan of in this role and I think they could have find someone better to play the character.
There are some pretty intense moments too, but a lot of it just seems pretty dragged out, for the reasons I stated earlier, but I don't think it ever gets too dragged out, to the point that it becomes boring.
