Review of Dogma (1999) by W D — 07 May 2010
I had a conversation with sone random fucking hipster about our favorite directors. After he rambled out some asinine list of foreign nobodies for the sake of sounding different I told him my top two directors were Quinten Tarentino, to which he rolled his eyes, and then Kevin Smith to which he shouted "are you fucking kidding me?" I explained my reasons: that the dialogue is brilliant, the actors wonderful, and the originality suberb.
He did not need to be artsy or anything. He made movies that simply worked and were entertaining and memorable. The hipster disagreed saying he was a foul-mouthed wash up who had no business in the movie industry.
I told the hipster to go and fuck himself and get a sense of humor, because his giant rayban glasses were keeping him from bein open-minded. I love this movie.
