Really just a fun little between-series diversion employed to try and raise money for the Children in Need special back in 2007, although it really does explain how that blasted spaceship does crash through the side of the TARDIS (otherwise, WTF!?).
Short, sweet, and too the point, and decidedly more viewer friendly than The Two Doctors special waaaay back in the day.
