Review of Detroit (2017) by Lenard W — 26 Aug 2017
In 1967, the police raided an underground club which lead to days of rioting in the city of Detroit which left the whole city on edge. Police were overwhelmed with multiple counts of looting and violence in the streets.
National Guard was called in by Governer Romney to put an end to the riot. During a particular rough night, an aspiring singer, a Vietnam vet, and a group of young people hide out at the Algiers Motel.
A random shot close to that location rings out and the police and National Guard arrive to investigate. In the end, three people end up dead at the hands of the riled up police. Kathryn Bigelow and Mark Boal create a piece of history unexplored.
