Review of Deadgirl (2008) by Daphne S — 12 Feb 2016
This movie doesn't get the credit it deserves. This is a sophisticated story about the dangers of mixing teenage male sexuality with peer pressure, social powerlessness and a lack of parental guidance.
I watched this movie several years ago and have never been able to shake it, or the questions it raises. The human moral compass is fragile, and sometimes "good" guys aren't as good as they seem or as they believe themselves to be.
This is much more than a horror movie. It is disturbing on a much deeper level and makes you think hard. You're not supposed to "like" it or feel good about it - you're supposed to learn something.
It definitely succeeds on that front.
