Review of Dead Mary (2007) by Andrew C — 25 Aug 2008
A film, mostly, of wasted potential. The slow build-up lets you get to know the characters (all a few years older and more interesting than the general casts of horror movies) and their interwoven lives offer a more interesting backdrop than usual.
But the Evil Dead/Candyman set-up seems confused as to exactly what sort of ancient force has been unleashed, as well as how to fight it. A later segue into the realms of The Thing only serves to further muddy the waters (as well as to remind you of a third, far superior, film that you could be watching instead).
