Review of Days of Glory (1944) by Javier D — 04 Sep 2011
Before the Russians were considered dirty commies by Hollywood, they were salt-of-the-earth freedom fighters, taking on the Nazis, lead by Gregory Peck in his film debut. Jacques Tourneur is somewhat of an underrated director, but this film is not among his best.
Still, it's not a bad film. My main complaint is that the pace seems unnecessarily slow in places, but Tourneur manages to deliver several memorable and visually striking sequences. Worth watching, but far from a classic.
