Review of David Brent: Life on the Road (2016) by Paul M — 20 Aug 2016
I was very much looking forward to "Life on the Road" being a huge fan of "The Office" and also "Extras". Sadly it's simply not that good and at 1 hour 40 minutes it starts to wear a little thin.
Ricky Gervais' brilliant creation David Brent is as cringeworthy to watch as ever and there are also moments of pathos as you really feel for this character at his lowest point.
However I feel that the character was explored so much better in the series and the last episode ended perfectly for his character and so makes this follow up all the more redundant.
But it is still is very funny in places and includes all the cringeworthy moments as well as a few really touching sequences. You feel for this man as we all know someone like Brent.
This is Ricky Gervais' finest comic creation but not the send off that he deserves or indeed needed.
