Review of Dave Chappelle: Killin' Them Softly (2000) by Christopher S — 12 Feb 2012
Of course this special was done before Dave Chappelle found international stardom with Chappelle's Show and went crazy after the show became a huge success. For the most part, I usually don't find the primary bits done by black comics funny (such as the differences between white people and black people) but Chappelle's timing and delivery made them funny.
The bit about going through the projects and the baby selling drugs on the corner was excellent as the bit about Bill Clinton and his women. The funniest bit though was definitely Chappelle's take on his white friend who was high who asked a policeman for directions.
I cannot believe this special aired more than ten years ago. Still funny every time I see it.
