Review of Dark Horse (2015) by Beverley C — 13 Apr 2015
If you rarely go to the movies, this is worth hunting out as I suspect it will not get much distribution. It is a tiny budget Welsh documentary featuring the real people - yet it won the Sundance Film Festival Audience Award this year.
The small audience tonight at our local Walton Everyman watched the live streaming from the premiere in the tiny village cinema of Blackwood and even gave it a spontaneous round of applause. (Last time I witnessed one of them was for the Kings Speech.).
A cleaner from Asda can not only dream of breeding a racehorse, she did it.
The horse that was bred on an allotment and owned by a syndicate of village characters all paying £10 a week made history...
I'd have not let him race in the National, but a great little movie.
