Review of Dark City (1998) by Stefano D — 16 Apr 2011
Came out before The Matrix. Follows a similar concept although Matrix was slightly (they had equal levels of depth in their content) due to being much more fun and entertaining in addition to its artistic merit (Dark City gets overburdened by varying levels of angst and broodiness).
However, this is the film the Matrix sequels should have strove to imitate. Sorry Inception fans and Matrix fans, but all of those innovative "game-changing" and "thought-provoking" ideas were put to film in Dark City first (perhaps even done better).
