Review of Cyclo (1995) by Nate W — 27 Apr 2009
Sophisticated realism of grim gritty urban desperation in Vietnam yet with the transcendental quality of poetry. Vivid and unflinching, this film resonates and it is not easily forgotten. Tony Leung's detached intensity is a constant brooding presence, and the emotional quality of the other characters bring this film to life.
Essential cinema.
