Review of Cthulhu (2008) by Private U — 29 Jul 2009
Excellent movie! There were some pretty bold choices made in this film. At times creepy, at other times darkly humorous, this movie uses Lovecraftian ideas and updates them to fit modern themes. Originally, the Deep Ones were seen to represent Lovecraft's fear of interracial breeding.
Add to that Western religion's persecution of homosexuality and fears of environmental erosion set to a story of monsters, cultists and the end times, and you've got the movie Cthulhu.
