Review of Closet Land (1991) by Mina E — 28 Feb 2013
This is an intense movie that is certainly not for everyone. The over-riding storyline of a totalitarian State that abducts and tortures its citizens is made more complex by the suprising relationship between an author and the government agent whose job it is to sign a false confession.
Without exception, every person I have shown it to was left feeling "disturbed" and speechless. Once you know the secret watch it again with the realization that Rickman's character knows the truth of things from the very beginning and yet is capable of doing all that follows in the name of the State and his own "inner sickness".
